Easter 2016

The day before Easter we attended an Easter egg hunt sponsored by the local Rotary that was held at Springville High School. Brooklyn had fun which is all that matters but it kind of left a sour taste in my mouth.  They give the start signal and the kids start running along with lots of parents who instead of letting their kids pick up candy from the field, they are frantically gathering  candy  for their kids(and it's the cheap stuff too).  It was actually pretty humorous.  You would think it was hundred dollar bills out there with how frantic some of the parents were. The fun was over in less than a minute I'd say.  Brooklyn wasn't trampled and got a handful or two of candy (without any parental assistance I might add ;) ) so I'd say it was a success.
You can see Brooklyn running and Thomas chasing after her on the track at the egg hunt. She was fast!

Our own Easter egg hunt at home was a bit more relaxed and enjoyable.  The Easter bunny left eggs all over inside the house and Brooky loved hunting for them.  I love that he brought some of my favorite types of candies, Reese's, mini cadbury eggs, and Jelly Belly jelly beans.  Only the good stuff. Brooklyn is way into dolls and wants to take dolls into the bath with her. So the Easter bunny brought her an Ariel doll that can go in the tub. He also brought her a bathrobe, kite, puzzle, and some Peeps.  That girl LOVES marshmallows so bird shaped sprinkled marshmallows were right up her ally.

One of my friends posted a fun activity that she did with her kiddos that I replicated to help teach the meaning of Easter.  You roll up marshmallows in crescent rolls and bake them. Explain that the marshmallow represents Jesus' body and the crescent is the tomb.  After they are done the marshmallow is gone just like Jesus was gone from the tomb.  About a month after Easter Brooklyn was playing under a little desk and was explaining how it was like Jesus' tomb and how He was risen.  I was impressed!

For Easter dinner we went to Brit and Chris'.  Brooklyn and Shaelee had a blast dressing the same and playing with chalk and bubbles.
