Wells 6 Months

17lb 11oz (53rd percentile) up about a pound since his 4 month appointment.
2' 2.5'' (42nd percentile) grew an inch in 2 months.
44.4 cm head circumference (80th percentile)

Started sitting up in a high chair.

We are exploring baby led weaning by allowing him to feed himself from food we are eating.  So far he has tried: cucumber, hummus, apple, ground beef, kidney beans, tomatoes, orange, red bell pepper, and oatmeal.  He seems to like it all.

Size 3 diapers

3 naps

Started getting up on his knees almost like he is about to crawl.

Does a little pterodactyl shriek just to explore his voice.

Can sit for a few seconds using his arms as a little tripod.

Will roll all across a room to get where he wants to go.

Sucks his thumb to soothe himself to sleep.

His newborn hair pretty much all fell out and now he has the fluffiest little hairs that look like the down on a little duckling.  It stays flat in the front of his head and sticks straight up in the back.

Has gotten exponentially better in the carseat and can make it through a whole stroller strides class without me having to hold him!

At his 6 month appointment the doctor noticed a little bump behind his ear that she said could be a few things: a cyst (which they would have to remove via surgery), a swollen lymph node, or part of his bone.  She said not to worry (of course I am though) but is having us schedule an ultrasound just to be safe.

We are really loving this baby stage right now.  Our little man is just so sweet and smiley.  I'm constantly kissing the bejeezus out of those cheeks.

Bend Christmas Parade

We are trying to start some new traditions in our new home.  The Bend Christmas Parade is one of them.  We got all bundled up and enjoyed the festivities.

Afterwards we stopped at a cute little downtown coffee shop for warm drinks and a story.

Next, we went to Target so Brooklyn could pick out her cousin presents.  Home Depot was right across the street and we headed their to pick a real Christmas tree.  We have a pre-lit tree but put it in Brooklyn's room as we were hoping to have a real one downstairs this year.  But.... Thomas and just couldn't swallow the hefty price tag of the tree plus a tree stand and lights.  We decided to get a small real tree for Brooklyn's room and then move the big tree downstairs.  Unfortunately our little lady had a MAJOR freak out on our way home that went on and on.  We warned her multiple times that she needed to stop if the wanted to keep the tree to no avail.  So the tree is going back.  Sometimes its really hard being a parent.  I WANT her to have a real tree in her room and to be able to decorate it.  But I also don't want her behaving so horribly and I don't know how else to get the point across to her. She's been warned that we have a very nice present for her that WILL be returned if the behavior doesn't change.  And it will.

Man does this girl love her little brother! And he ADORES Brooklyn.  He just stares at her all the time and she can make him laugh like nobody else.

Days when there are no school it’s hard for me to keep Brooklyn entertained. This day I took her and friend Kaylee to a bounce house place.

We got a puzzle to do as a family.  Thomas and I liked doing them when we were dating.  This puzzle was nice because it had bigger pieces for kids and smaller ones for adults.

Snow!

Wells sat in a highchair for the first time at Nana's house.

My cousin Bethany got to snuggle our guy.

Brooklyn asked to brush my hair and it was the best little head massage.

The big cousins are so sweet with the littles. Here Brooklyn is reading to Nellie.

Waiting for sister at the bus stop.

Making a countdown for our trip to Nana's for Christmas.

Thanksgiving Part 3

We played lots of games while we were in Texas.  Brooklyn learned how to play Uno and Slapjack.  We had a Bunco night too that the kids all loved (especially the candy prizes).

(Brooklyn put her swimsuit on because she wanted my parents to turn on their inflatable water slide. It was warm but not THAT warm.

One day Brooklyn and Vona made menus and were taking Great Grandpa's order.  It was so sweet.  They would also go in his room to play games on his computer.  I know my Grandpa really likes having the company.

Thanksgiving Day Brooklyn and I went out for a run, I pushed her in the stroller.  My brother in law Ivan made us a Mexican feast that was DELICIOUS! I'm pushing for us to make this a new tradition.  He made a few different varieties of carne asada, multiple salsas, pico de gallo, and guacamole. We also had tamales, beans, and went the traditional route for dessert with pies.

One day we met my grandma at a Vietnamese restaurant for lunch where she met Wells for the first time.  Afterwards we headed to the nickel arcade.  That night we had a fire in the backyard and roasted marshmallows for s'mores.

We are excited to be going back in a month for Christmas and continuing the fun!

Thanksgiving Part 2

Our second full day we took the kids, in their matching outfits from Nana, to the Stonebriar mall to see Santa.
Wells is normally great having whomever hold him but it was nap time and he got fussy once it was time for Santa pics, darn it.

My mom is doing much better after this surgery then her first. She just had her reconstructive surgery about a week ago and is slowly getting around. We are so glad we get to celebrate this and many more Thanksgivings with her!
