Brooklyn's BFF

I love seeing Brooklyn and our neighbor Maha play together. Brooklyn lights up every time Maha comes over to be tutored. I have been letting Maha stay after her tutoring lessons to play with Brooklyn because they both love it so much. Makes me wish Brooklyn had an older sibling.

Today Maha was pushing Brooklyn around in the laundry basket and Brooklyn was just chilling out in there. Maha had made a map and they were following the route on the map around the apartment. So darling. photo DSCF1189_zpscc8b7f75.jpg photo DSCF1188_zps0398f09f.jpg photo DSCF1186_zps39ff482a.jpg Another day Maha made a fort out of chairs and blankets for them to lay in. photo DSCF1081_zps0e5051ae.jpg

Crawling

Two weeks ago Brooklyn started to crawl a bit where she would move her hands and feet forward twice and then flop on her belly. This last week she just got the hang of it one day and now she's our little Explora Dora. If there is a cord or any kind of paper around she will hone in on it and be over there in a sec. I love her little crawl it is very cautious at first and robotic. I don't know if it will be any indication of her personality in years to come but it seems like she was waiting to crawl until she could do it perfectly. Do we have a perfectionist on our hands already? Hmm I wonder where she got that from?

The Park

Today hit 60 degrees so we took advantage of the weather and went to the park for a bit.  First Thomas and I played frisbee golf and Brooklyn came along in her stroller.  Then we spent some time at the playground.  Brooklyn likes going down the slide and today she thought the swings were just the funnest thing ever.  In the short little video we took (my camera ran out of batteries) she is flapping her arms like she is flying.

Juicing

My oldest sister, Erin, mentioned that she got a juicer and I was intrigued.  Like everybody else who has jumped on the juice wagon I watched "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" and decided to purchase a Breville Juicer.  I had told Thomas when we first had Brooklyn that I don't want her to be one of those kids who always has to have some sugary juice.  Milk and water in this house.  But lucky for her now that we have a juicer she can drink all the fresh veggie and fruit juice that she wants.  I try to go 50/50 veggie to fruit ratio or even more on the veggies.  The big reason I wanted the juicer was so that we would be getting more nutrients from veggies.

Her face doesn't show how much she really does like them.  In fact if we have one and don't share she gets pretty ticked.
We are all big fans and love coming up with new combos. This one Brooklyn and I shared had parsley, carrots, a grapefruit, pear, and apple, it was delish.

Brooklyn's First Haircut

Doesn't this before and after totally remind you of a weight loss one? Not smiling and close up in the before and smiling and a little further away in the after.

Thomas of Salon Tomas working his magic.
Brooklyn got her first haircut this Sunday.  I was going to take her to the salon where I get my hair done but it seemed like such a hastle.  I was too chicken to do it but Thomas was brave and got the scissors out to give her a little trim.  Just the very top of her hair was really long and looked uneven so he evened it out with a few snips.  I saved the little locks to put in her baby book.

Chores and bye-bye

As a kid I remember thinking that the reason my parents had four children was so that they wouldn't have to do any chores, they could just have us do it for them. Ha ha! I guess I'm following in their footsteps and getting Brooklyn use to doing chores at a young age. She loves to sit next to me when I am doing laundry and copy me. When we vacumm with her she likes to hold the cord up for us. That's pretty much the extent of her chore helping at this point but I'm sure we will add to her repertoire of chores as she gets older. Cause I mean that's the whole reason you have kids right? ;)

Sitting up and Playdate

Just in the past few days Brooklyn learned how to get from lying down to sitting.  Today when we put her down for a nap we heard her fussing for awhile so I walked in to her room and she is sitting up in her crib with her legs in between the bars trying to reach for her binky which had fallen out.  We are seeing progress towards crawling too.  She will move her hands forward and then try to move her knees but ends up on her tummy.

Check out Brooklyn's cheeks! This picture wasn't even planned.  The blinds were just being closed and they all looked.

All girls!
In other news this week we went on a play date.  These are so good for both Brooklyn and myself.  It gets us both out of the house and allows me time to chat with other mamas and Brooklyn can interact with other babies/kids.
