Thanksgiving Point Dance Competition

Brooklyn had her first dance competition in February. Coincidentally, my mom got to be in town and watch the competition.

Nana bought these matching outfits for Brooklyn and her doll from Costco.

It makes my heart SO happy to see Brooklyn doing something that she loves and enjoying it so much.  She worked really hard on her dances and would make sure that she practiced literally every night for months leading up to her competition.
She had a duet to the song Gladiator with her teammate Hallie and two team dances, one to Marilyn Monroe (hip hop) and one to Romeo and Juliet (lyrical).  She seems to really love and thrive with the hip hop variety of songs. For Marilyn Monroe she walked out on stage with so much sass and had such big movements and energy.  It.was.AWESOME. I tear up every time I watch her perform.  I think it's because as a mom I just want her to work hard and be happy. Seeing her practice and practice and then just be so joyful as she performs makes my heart burst

Brooklyn and her duet partner earned 1st place for their duet, and their team got first in both categories for their two team dances. Overall their studio got 1st as well so they got to go on stage and get a trophy for their studio. Brooklyn was hanging onto that trophy for dear life. At the end of the year her coach has a raffle for the team trophies and she's really hoping to win that. For her other wins she got a medal with some pins.

She performed on both days of the competition and both nights we had a hard time getting her to leave because she wanted to keep watching the other dancers.  I love that she has found a hobby that she cares so much about.
