Quest for the Capitol Sprint Triathlon

Thomas competed in his second triathlon this June. His first one was unique in that it the swim was done the day before indoors.  The second one was a little more official in the set up and distance.
The swim was around a big pond and it was Thomas' first open water swim.  He crushed it on the bike and Brooklyn and I were able to see him at the bike to run transition and then at the finish line right in front of the Capitol building.
While he was racing we browsed the downtown farmer's market, Brooklyn played in the fountain downtown, and we stopped to snack on the most delicious dutch cookie.  Brooklyn was so excited to see her Dad and became quite the little cheerleader as we watched people crossing the finish line.
Thomas said the race was the hardest thing he'd ever done.  Super proud of him for training for it with such a busy schedule with limited time.

A few seconds later he realized he forgot to take off his helmet and tossed it to me.
