Halloweeney Weekend

We were so excited for this weekend to come because it had been a long week for both of us. Thomas had two big tests, one on Thursday and one on Tuesday (which I'm sure he did great on because he always does:) and I had parent/teacher conferences all week. The weekend started for us on Thursday. We got home and took the car in to get repaired (I'll do another post on that later) and then got started making some yummy double stuffed tacos. We got a recipe book from the Buttons for our wedding and it has all their family recipes so they have normal ingredients and taste great. Then we made Toffee chocolate bars for a bake sale at the hospital Thomas was helping with. That recipe came from a Hershey's cookbook we also got for the wedding, it has wonderful recipes as well. Once we got the toffee bars in the oven we watched a cheesy disney movie that I rented from the library called the "Ice Princess." I secretly liked it and Thomas says "I thought it was a horrible movie." I think he secretly liked it too. It was nice to spend a relaxing night together at home in our little apartment. We had been away from our apartment for a little more than two weeks babysitting for different people so it was really nice to be home. On Friday we went to a work get together for the preschool staff at Hoover. It was at one of the speech therapists house and she made delicous enchiladas and rice. Thomas ended up being the only guy there so he felt a little akward. It was fun chatting with the other teachers that I work with. I really love my job and the people I work with. After that, we went to the corn maze. One of our friends Nathan who once worked at a corn maze told Thomas that the trick is to always go either right or left. You choose one direction and go that way every time. That way you don't get so confused or lost. So we chose left every time and got out of there in like 20 minutes. Then we went and looked at the haunted trailor and took the hay ride. That was a fun fall like thing to do. After the corn maze we stopped at Coldstone for ice cream and then called it a night. Saturday we went to the temple and afterwards stopped at the mall. Bath and Body works has their seasonal collection out and Thomas and I both love the Vanilla Noel scent so we bought some of that lotion and some scented oils for the apartment too. On our way back to Yakima we stopped in Grandview to see Grandma Galloday. She was happy to see us and we had a good time chatting with her. She's such a sweet lady. Once we got to Yakima we went to my fave mexican restaurant El Porton for dinner. I always get the same thing, in fact I don't ever remember getting anything other than the sano burrito. Ever since the mission whenever I go to a mexican restaurant I always order jamiaca to drink. It's so delicous but apparently it's an aquired taste because a lot of people don't like it when they try it at first. It's made out of some flower that is crushed. I recommend it to anyone the next time they go and eat mexican food. After dinner we stopped by Rosaures to get a redbox movie but the machine was out of order so we went to Blockbuster and got some old scary movies. Secret Window with Johnny Depp and The Glass House they both scared me and made me glad that I wasn't home alone. Thomas reviews for the movies were "Glass House was weird and sucked but Secret Window was good." This Sunday was our first time at our new ward since being married. We thought we were in third ward boundaries and went there once but found out throught the RS presidency and the missionaries that we are just barely in the second ward area. Second ward is so nice and friendly and we felt very comfortable and welcome there. So this weekend was very halloweeney and very excellent!

  1. Yess! I miss you and I am glad you have a blog. I have also seen Ice Princess and it wasn't that great but that reminds me of all the teeny-bopper movies we used to watch together! Your blog makes me want to watch a mary-kate and ashley movie with you and then go to El Porton. . . Oh, Rob and I also stocked up on the Bath and Body Works winter scents. Love them! Glad we are bloggy buddies for life.

  2. Yay, I'm so glad you guys have a blog! I LOVED Ice Princess. On the guest book pages at our weddings, one of my friends put "Drag him to every girlie movie ever. He'll pretend like he hates them but he'll secretly love it." I think it's true!
