Thomas and I recieved tickets to an Idaho Steelheads hockey game from participating in the Catch 5K a few weeks ago. We didn't make it through the whole game due to grouchy two year old but enjoyed what we did see.
There are some hardcore hockey fans!

Zoo Spooktacular
One evening Thomas was working and Brooklyn and I needed some entertainment. We headed to the zoo where for a few weekend evenings they were having a Halloween walk kind of thing. There were stations with crafts people in costumes that freaked Brooklyn out, and a lady who was really good at carving pumpkins. Kind of random and wasn't really worth the money but... tis the season.
Scarecrow Stroll 2014
Race for the Steaks 5K
This was the first year this race was put on and it was excellent. Definitely one we would participate in again. There was a 15K and a 5K option and Thomas and I both chose the 5K.
The race started at 4pm which was different than we are used to. I was feeling sluggish beforehand and told Thomas I didn't plan on racing this one.
Once it started I settled into my pace and just tried to stick with those around me.
I finished and was greeted by Traci from the Idaho Beef Council who also runs Team Beef. She told me I was the first woman 5Ker!
The top three woman got coolers filled with steaks! Best prize ever.
Afterwards all participants got a steak dinner made by Goodwood Barbeque. Way better than a banana and bagel. The only bummer about this race was it was quite a bit short 2.9 miles instead of 3.1 can't count it as a PR.
But for sure will run this race next year.

Hike Table Rock
We borrowed a hiking backpack child carrier so that could attempt to hike as a family up Table Rock this past weekend. I say attempt because whenever we have tried before with Brooklyn she cries in the Ergo so that we either turn around early or Thomas will go back and play with her at the park while I finish the hike to the top.
Brooklyn started to fuss at the beginning about wanting to walk but we ignored and distracted her with pointing things out along the way. She liked stopping to pick berries from the bushes. She was also highly entertained by imagining that she was a zebra and Thomas was Diego and I was Dora the Explorer and we had to carry her to the top to get medicine to fix her (the zebra's) leg. Thomas made up that whole scenario and it worked like a charm. She's still talking about being a zebra and Daddy being Diego.
Thomas and I took turns wearing her on the way up and it was a killer workout!
At the top we witnessed someone being proposed to and it reminded me of Thomas proposing when we were on a hike.
Being out in nature is such a mood enhancer for me. Even when I feel like being lazy around the house if I get out into nature I always feel such a mood boost.
Love the view over Boise from this hike and love that it is just a 10 or so minute drive from our place.
Farmstead 2014
This is the third year we have taken Brooklyn to The Farmstead and each year it gets better and better. Grandma Sandee got to come with us again this year.
We visited the farm animals including the ducks, bunnies, goats, and horses. Brooklyn is very interested in animals but very timid around them and doesn't like to touch them. Totally fine by me.
We went on a hay ride to the pumpkin patch to pick some pumpkins.
Played in the corn box.
Made a house with big blocks and lincoln logs.
Rode the Brooklyn cow on the cow train. We make sure she rides in this particular cow each year. This was the first year didn't need to sit on our lap,she rode solo, Thomas rode behind her. As the ride went on she was slipping lower and lower into the seat cause she was so tiny compared to the seat belt.
Went down the slide on a potato sack.
Played corn hole.
Thomas and I went through the corn maze.
Played some carnival-like throw the baseball through the hole game.
Jumped on the bounce pillow.
Played pumpkin tether ball.
So much fun.
