Swimming Lessons at Ivywild

Brooklyn had six weeks of swimming lessons this summer at a nearby city pool.  We purchased a season city pool pass for her and I this summer so we spent a lot of time swimming.  Sometimes we would meet friends for Pre-school Swim in the mornings from 10am-noon and then after nap time go back to the pool and swim til 5:30pm when swimming lessons would start.

When they first get in the pool Teacher Rachel let the kids splash her as part of Simon Says.  Brooklyn would get REALLY into it and get right up next to her.

If she had a boy she was playing with she liked to take her shirt off like them.

Getting her face in the water.
Brooklyn hates the bath so I was worried that swimming lessons wouldn't go well but she LOVED them and absolutely excelled.  By the end of lessons she was going under water and opening her eyes while under.  She will scoop her arms in the swimming motion and kick her legs at the same time.  She also loves to jump off the edge of the pool and go down the big tube slide with me.  In two of the two week sessions she had a friend from church in class with her.  Brooklyn loved having a friend to goof around with and was quite the little social butterfly.   photo IMG_3488_zps89582f0a.jpg photo IMG_3489_zpsda060d92.jpg photo IMG_3908_zpsa55f55f7.jpg
At The Grove in downtown Boise there is a little spot that has some rocks and water deep enough for wading. It's right next to the big fountain the kids run through and Brooklyn loved to swim around in it. One Friday night we went downtown and ran into our old neighbors the Rodriguez family and the kids all played in the wading pool together. photo IMG_3917_zps1cc29eaf.jpg photo IMG_3918_zps758537b7.jpg
