Brooklyn's First Easter

Anytime there is a chance to get new cute clothes and a new headband for Brooklyn I am all over that :). Easter was the most recent chance.

Happy Easter!
This morning when Brooklyn woke up and was fed and dressed she went right for her basket.
The Easter Bunny brought her a friends and family book with pictures of all her extended family, Leapfrog fridge phonics magnets, another giraffe binky, and U-fill squeeze pouches (for some reason according to Brooklyn food is better from a pouch).

Daddy and Brooklyn.
Thomas wasn't feeling well this morning so it was just Brooklyn and I at church today.  I loved hearing all the messages and music about the resurrection.  The children sang a song about Gethsemane that was so beautiful.  There is something so sweet about hearing children sing and talk about Jesus. I love that so many recognize what He has done for us today, He deserves everyday to be thought of and remembered for his sacrifice.  Being a mom I can only try and imagine how our Heavenly Father felt to see His son suffer.  I know just hearing Brooklyn cry herself to sleep sometimes breaks my heart so I can't imagine being able to watch the suffering that Jesus went through.  I thank my Heavenly Father for the sacrifice of His son so that I can be with my daughter forever.

Spring Break Day 6

It was a perfect spring day today, about 70 degrees with a tiny breeze.  We started the day off biking to a nearby fruit stand.  Brooklyn did much better this time.
After an afternoon nap for Brooky Bear we checked off an item on our Boise Bucket List.  We hiked the nearby Table Rock trail.  It was such a great workout, especially while carrying a 16lb baby.
At the top of the trail there is a huge cross and a beautiful view of Boise.

She started out on my back but then we switched to the front partway up the trail.

Spring Break Day 5

Friday we took Brooklyn's new bike trailer out for a longer ride to the zoo.  She hadn't had a good enough nap beforehand and wasn't liking her helmet so she was screaming most of the way.  All out scream.  It sounded like she was being tortured and all the people we passed on the greenbelt gave Thomas the funniest looks since he was the one pulling the trailer.
My mom and dad got us a annual pass to the zoo for Christmas.  It's great because we can take the greenbelt path all the way there and don't have to deal with any cars when we bike.
Last week of sign language class they taught us animals and Brooklyn loved it when we would see an animal and then do the sign for it.  She would laugh and smile every time we did it.
We didn't make it through the whole zoo but luckily we can go back anytime we want!

This was in November.  Brooklyn looks like a giant next to them!
Our friends the Grimmer's came through on their way to Salt Lake City. The last time Brooklyn and I saw them the twins were just a couple months old. Collin is 2 1/2 and was so good at playing with Brooklyn. She loved following around after him and copying what he was doing. Adorable.

Sprink Break Day 4

Today we started our day off with story time at the library.  We had a seat front and center and Brooklyn was enthralled by the librarian's story telling abilities.  During the songs everyone was laughing as she would start dancing.
After nap time we set up the new bike trailer and went down the street to test her out.  (Don't worry we have a helmet for Brooklyn).  I think she thought it was pretty cool and I know I couldn't be more excited to all be able to go on bike rides together.  I love bike riding!

Giddy up Daddy!

10 months

At 10 months Brooklyn...
- Signs "more" and "all done" ( We had been doing these signs with her for a while now but she just started doing them after I took her to a free sign language class that is offered at the hospital once a week.  I think she saw other people doing them and thought it was cool so she'd jump on the sign language wagon.)
- Is down to nursing just once a day, in the morning.
- Can pull herself up to standing.
- Says "da-da" lot and sometimes "ma-ma" (I'm not sure if she associates them with us but she likes to say them).
- Babbles a lot throughout the day.
- Goes to bed around 6:30pm and wakes up around 6:30am.
- Takes two naps around 9am and 12:30pm (sometimes a short one around 4:30pm).
- Claps when she sees other people clapping.
- Initiates peek-a-boo and will say the "P" sound when she pulls down the blanket or whatever she has covering her face.
- Still wears 6 month onesies but the 6 month pants are too short.
- Wears size 2 diapers.
- Wants to eat whatever we are eating. This has actually really motivated me to eat more whole foods so that I CAN feed her whatever I am eating.
- Has gotten really in to music and will shake and groove when music is on. This totally reminds me of her cousin Alex when he was her age.
- Loves to play with other kids at church or on play dates.

Spring Break Day 3

We missed day two because Brooklyn got sick and didn't sleep well the night before so she took a bunch of naps and we didn't have time to get out before Thomas left for work.  I did have a chance to sneak away to Target by myself and get some essentials (Boogie Wipes for the lil missy and swim diapers for the start of swimming lessons next week) and some fun non-essentials (clothes for Brooklyn of course).

photo DSCF1235_zps2b200420.jpg Today we went to the aquarium. Spring break is not the time to go to the aquarium, everybody and their mom was there.  Seriously! It was super packed and probably not worth the $18 for two adults but there were some cool sea life that neither of us had seen before and obviously a first for Brooklyn.  Brooklyn seemed to like looking in all the tanks. She had no problem petting the huge iguana or the boa constrictor.   photo DSCF1236_zps3fd24ac0.jpg photo DSCF1239_zps247e8c67.jpg photo DSCF1249_zps2803f3ad.jpg

Spring Break Day 1

Yay for time with my husband! We have an activity planned each day before Thomas goes to work so that we can take full advantage of his spring break from school.  Today's activity was bowling.
When we first got to the bowling alley little miss Brooklyn did not want to let her mama bowl.  When she gets really tired she just wants mom.  She would cry if I passed her off to Thomas so for our first of three games she bowled with me.

After the first game she got her second wind and had fun clapping and playing with the little girls who were bowling next to us.  My goal was to break 100 for one of the games but never did.  I got close on the second game but no dice.  Thomas is a pro and once he got warmed up was bowling strikes and spares almost every turn!

After bowling we all went home and took a nap.  Perfect start to our little staycation.

St. Patrick's Day 5K

We had our first race as members of Team Beef.  It was a St. Patrick's day run and there was a kids one mile race (I teared up, watching kids run their little hearts out just makes me emotional), a kilted one mile run, a five mile run, and a 5K.  We ran the 5K together and had a goal to complete it in under 27 minutes. I pushed the jogging stroller the first mile and a half and Thomas pushed the last half.  The course started at Julia Davis Park and did a loop around the park and along the greenbelt.  I loved running together as a family and was very motivated having Thomas right there with me.  We wanted to be the first stroller pushers to finish and we were!! Haha.  For our fitness level right now we are proud of how we have done.  Sometimes it can be discouraging when we compare it to our past fitness levels.  Thomas ran 18 minute 5K's in high school and a couple years ago I was running a half marathon at the same pace we ran this 5K! But we are where we are and we hope to improve as the season goes on.  Here were the results:
Time: 26:53/ 8:40 pace

Thomas is like "No big deal".

Thomas: 8th out of 21 in age division, 42nd out of 133 males, 55th of 404 overall

Lindsey: 4th out 34 in age division, 13th out of 271 females, 54th of 404 overall

Brooklyn was first in her age division and wasn't even tired afterwards! She led us in our stretches afterwards.

- Really likes to go on the swings at the park and go down the slide.
