Due Date

Today was my due date.  I didn't really think I would go in to labor before or on my due date just because it seems to be a trend in my family to go on or after.  But it's still a little disappointing.  Luckily the day still was made fabulous.
At my appointment this morning, after hearing the discouraging news that I was still at a one and only 50% effaced, the doctor had us get an ultrasound to make sure that the baby was head down.  So we got to see our little sweetie :) The ultrasound tech was amazed by the size of her cheeks.  They for sure looked nice and chunky and made her lips poke out.  We can't wait to kiss those chubby cheeks and lips.
Thomas is good about suggesting that we walk a lot to try and get things going (although apparently walking isn't doing much).  So, after the appointment we went to a nearby park and got our daily walk in.
I am scheduled to be induced next Tuesday morning. This gives me a lift knowing that there IS an end in sight.
My good friend Lyndsay Howell came by to visit with her one week old baby Korbin and that helped pass the afternoon while Thomas was at work.  I also did some more cooking of freezer meals and the freezer is stocked so when we have family is here there will be quick meals.
This evening I treated myself to a prenatal massage and it was wonderful.  I could seriously be massaged all day long and not get tired of it.  Sixty minutes of being massaged flies by.
So I am back to work tomorrow all day subbing in one of the kinder classes that I sub for quite a bit.  I'm hoping this week flies by and am excited for this weekend to see my Mom, Dad, and younger sister and her baby!

39 weeks

39 weeks and still pretty much effaced and dilated the same as I was two weeks ago :( .  I can just tell this little girl is comfy inside my uterus.  She just loves to stretch her little legs in my right ribs and then when Thomas and I rub her little feet she tucks them back in.  It's pretty funny, like a little "come and get me" game.  I have an appointment on the 22nd (my due date) and if she hasn't made her appearance by then my doctor plans on scheduling an induction for the 29th.
I'm glad to have jobs set up for the past few days with classes that I have subbed for before.  Today and yesterday it was kindergarten.  The kids were doing and "All About Me" book and in one page they are supposed to trace their hand and color it.  Their teacher likes them to use more than one color and so when one boy showed me his that was just all one color I suggested he maybe outline the hand with black crayon.  He insisted "No! My hand brown! See! (pointing to his skin) My skin brown!"
I also pretty much lost a kid for a whole half hour and didn't realize it.  Scary! I picked the students up from P.E. at 2:45pm and one of the kids had been put in timeout for misbehaving so the P.E. teacher was talking with him as I was taking the rest of the kids back to class across the hall and I figured he would just follow.  Well apparently he just went straight to his brother's third grade classroom and hid in there for the last 30 minutes of the day! The third grade teacher called about 5 minutes before the bell rang to let me know he was there.  The sad thing was I hadn't even noticed he was gone! Oops! Good thing I'm "retiring" from substituting in the next week or so.

Easter

For Easter this year I was so excited to eat an egg salad sandwich! The night before Easter Sunday we dyed eggs with a glitter egg mix from the dollar store.  The gold glitter didn't really work out :)

My big Easter bunny hunny!

After church and thoroughly enjoying our egg salad sandwiches we went on a nice little walk.  We ended up near a little quaint area that is called "Bown's Crossing".  There are a bunch of cute restaurants with outdoor seating and some little shops.  We were intrigued by the candy shop and had intentions of just browsing but then ended up getting a cup of gelato to sample and some fun candies. Thomas got this long gummy snake :)

Carseat installation

Yesterday we got some more last minute baby details ready. Thomas put together the stroller and baby rocker and he installed the carseat in the car.

After house sitting this past week when we got back to our apartment it smelled like cigarette smoke.  I think because we always have candles burning we don't notice it and we might have just gotten used to the smell.  We decided to get rid of the smell once and for all so we made a mixture of a gallon of warm water, ammonia, and vinegar and wiped down all the walls and ceilings.  (Okay I made the mixture and Thomas did the wiping).  Then we put a baking soda mixture over the carpet and let it set for awhile, plus we put air wick's in each room.  So far so good this morning.  Baby is going to come home to a sweet smelling apartment.

A couple more weeks

All this week I subbed in a first grade class at Pioneer (where I did my student teaching).  I loved being able to eat lunch with my teacher pals and being in the same class all week.  Some funny things the little first graders said:
Student: Mrs. G. do you have a baby in your belly?
Me: Yep
Student: Mrs. G. why you bring your baby to school like that?

Student: Mrs. Giles at recess Preston pushed me in the private part. You know, the part where milk comes out of.

I was a little disappointed at my appointment this past Tuesday because I hadn't progressed any since my appointment the week before.  Still only 50% effaced and a fingertip dilated.  After measuring my stomach the doctor asked how big I was as a baby.  I said around 8lbs (my mom later told me I was 8lbs 6 oz).  I asked why, did she think my baby was going to be big and she replied "well your stomach is... ample".  Haha. She did reassure me though that she had delivered a 10lb 9oz baby a couple days before and that my baby wouldn't be that big.

I really am glad that the last part of pregnancy hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be.  Yes I have horrible heartburn and my back hurts when I sit for longer than 10 minutes but other than that I feel pretty good.  I am scheduled to sub next week for a couple days in a kindergarten class and then I think from that point on I will just take half days.  That way I can get lots of sleep but still stay occupied.

Thomas is still being a wonderful husband to a pregnant lady.  This morning he gave me a back massage before I got out of bed and then made me a smoothie for breakfast and then brought lunch to school for us to eat together.  Love him! I went and got a spa pedicure after work today and loved that they let me sit in the massage chair for an hour afterwards to watch Ellen while my nails dried.  I gave them a good tip for that.
