Some amusing things Brooklyn has said lately:
"What a heck!?"
"Hey! What's going on there?" (While Thomas was carving the turkey.)
"My dad is so great with me."
Me: Tilly has a new baby sister!
Brooklyn: I have a baby sister too. She's in my belly.
"I was cold and I was freezer!"
Thomas: I can't help you wash your hands. Mine have burger all over them.
Brooklyn: He's got boogers all over his hands.
Me: Brooklyn what made you cry?
Brooklyn: My feelings.
Thomas: Where do you work baby girl?
Brooklyn: To my castle.
She mixes up certain compound words that have the same ending. For example when she wants to walk on something that looks like a balance beam she asks if she can walk on the "sunbeam".
When she wants to paint she asks for a "toothbrush" instead of paintbrush.

December Photo Dump
We took Thomas' nephews up snowboarding during the Christmas break. I hadn't been in over three years but it all came back right away. Seriously like riding a bike. This was our first time at Bogus Basin which is only like a 45 minute drive from us.
Brooklyn colored on the walls for the first time and consequently learned how to clean the walls with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
Thomas' sister sent Brooklyn this cute Elsa hat that her friend made.
Cookie decorating with Daddy.
All dressed up for church in her pretty Christmas dress. Thomas likes to try and match his tie to the dress she is wearing for church.
Sometimes when I hear about tragic things happening to other children I get really anxious that they will happen to Brooklyn. One story I read was about a little girl who woke up before her parents and the dresser fell over on her and killed her. The other day while I was in the kitchen Brooklyn was in her room and when I went in the dresser was tipped over and all the drawers had fallen out. It had not fallen on her but it was the kick in the pants I needed to buy some furniture anchors. Whenever Thomas gets his tools out for a project Brooklyn loves to be involved and get her little tool set out too. Or just climb all over her dad while he is working. We did the 12 days of Christmas where Brooklyn opens a new book each night leading up to Christmas. I love this tradition.
They have this picture of Thomas and Brooklyn from last year in the City of Boise Activity Booklet. This day Brooklyn was crying because "there's snow on my car!" She has also lost it because the leaves were falling of of "her trees" outside.
I went to a free Pure Barre class at Lululemon. Such a great workout! The Pure Barre studio is right near our house and I've been wanting to try it but it's like $20 a class! These statues use to be downtown but they moved them to in front of the community center and Brooklyn loves to play with them.
She still loves these cozy coupe cars they have at open gym.

Ward Christmas Party Santa Visit
Our ward Christmas party had a Santa visit. Brooklyn had already sat on Santa's lap at the Botanical Gardens earlier in the month but we decided to try again. This time her friend Kiona went first and I think seeing her friend be okay with it made her more relaxed about it.
No tears!! Not really smiling but no tears.

Nutcracker Jr.
Our friends Sara and Molly invited us to attend The Nutcracker Jr. with them in December. It is a condensed hour long version of The Nutcracker which is just perfect for little ones. The girls dressed up all fancy and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I had a major "I'm so happy I'm a mom to this beautiful little girl" smile ear to ear moment while watching my sweet girl dance and smile and laugh with her friend while watching the show. Blessed.
Trolley Lights Tour
Family Christmas Light and Fire Truck Ride Date Night
Thomas got off work one night and met us at Chic-Fil-A. We pass by the restaurant almost everyday and you can see the play structure inside and Brooklyn frequently asks to go on the slide. The day before she said "I want to slide". When I asked her where she said "the food slide".
Her wish is my command and we enjoyed dinner and some free entertainment for the little one.
Afterwards we headed to a nearby house that is all decked out in lights and inflatable christmas characters in the yard. The man who owns the house looks like santa and takes people on a free old fashioned fire truck ride around his neighborhood to see the lights.
Cold but so much fun riding around the neighborhood on the fire truck. Impromptu family date nights are the best. Santa photo bomb.

Christmas 2014
I was worried that this year I would be depressed because we wouldn't be in Texas for our big family Christmas like last year. I was relieved to find that there was excitement and joy in spending Christmas at home this year.
Christmas Eve we hung out around home and Thomas did some last minute shopping. That evening we went to Thomas' parents and went to see another Christmas light show synchronized to music. That night it started snowing! Just in time to give us a white Christmas. We woke up Christmas morning and took our traditional video of Brooklyn coming out to see the presents Santa brought. She immediately was drawn to the puppy dog that sat unwrapped under the tree. The puppy makes doggy noises and has a leash that you can use to make it walk. She kept saying "My puppy! My puppy!" and for the next few days it did everything with her including take a nap next to her bed with its own pillow and blanket. Stamps and water paints.
Brooklyn got a lot of games this year and after she opened each one she wanted to play. Thomas and I are relieved to have some new things to play with too. New games include Hungry Hungry Hippos, a fishing game, The Cat in the Hat I Can Do That, and a matching game made by Grandma Sandee. Thomas and I decided to forgo getting each other gifts besides stocking stuffers and bought ourselves a Blendtec blender. We LOVE it!!! Our smoothies are Jamba Juice quality now.
Christmas Eve night I had prepared two dishes that I could just pop in the oven Christmas morning and they included a sausage crescent egg bake and a cinnamon roll dish. These will I think be our go to Christmas morning dishes because of they are so easy and delicious.
After presents and breakfast we headed over to my in-laws for more presents and a fancy lunch. Thomas had to work at 3pm so we headed home after lunch so that Brooklyn could nap and Thomas went to work.
Thomas' sister Kristin is in town with two of her boys one of which (James) is getting married in the next week here in Boise so his fiance was also celebrating with us.
I love how the holidays really do bring us together as families.
(Thomas bought me flowers on Christmas Eve. )
