Brooklyn's birthday fell on Memorial Day this year! I was worried all her friends would be out of town but we had a great turnout.
The day started off with Thomas taking Brooklyn on a bike ride. Up til this summer she hasn't been a big fan of the bike trailer. Now we can pretty much guarantee that every morning she will ask to go for a ride. Of course we couldn't deny the birthday princess a ride in her chariot so off we went.
After our bike ride we headed to the zoo. In the summer they have the mechanical dinosaurs and Brooklyn loves to watch and laugh and roar with them. We bought lunch for the birthday girl and at her request an overpriced slurpy because she saw someone else with the cool cup and sat down to eat it right next to the giraffes.
After naptime it was party time. We had her party at a nearby park that we go to frequently. I had planned some cute decorations found off Pinterest and it was kind of a fail. The sesame street pom-pom faces were supposed to be stuck in mason jars for the tables but there was a slight wind and they just kept being knocked over. My friend/old roomie Tess was one of the first to arrive and she suggested we stick them in the ground around the pavilion and that worked like a charm. I also got the idea to do Sesame Street character fruit and veggie platters off Pinterest. And the Elmo cupcakes we ordered from Albertsons.
Brooklyn and her friends had fun playing on the playground and the adults had fun chatting. All the kids were interested in the present opening and lots joined in on the fun.
Brooklyn was really interested in the broken photo booth at the zoo. Thomas snapped this one of us while we were playing in it.
Enjoying her slurpee.
Birthday lunch, dining with Daddy and the giraffes.
Thomas and I made the goody bags. Inside was a Sesame Street book and Sesame Street stickers.
That day we talked with Brooklyn about it being her birthday and how she was two years old now. If you ask her how old she is she will give you one of two responses either she thinks you are asking her name and says "Brooklyn" or she says "Two old!"
