Christmas Day 2015

Bea and her family spent the night at my parents Christmas Eve so it was fun for Brooklyn to wake up and have Alex and Emmett to share in her excitement.  Of course Brooky Bear was the first one up that morning.  She ran into the room Alex and Emmett were sleeping in and shouted "It's Christmas! It's Christmas!".  Emmett popped right up and yelled "YESSS!!!".  It was darling.

First the kids went to see the cookies Santa had eaten and the note he had left on the kitchen table. We had the kids look in their stockings and see what Santa had brought them while we waited for Ashley and her family to get there.

Brooklyn's big presents from Santa were her two dolls from Build-a-Bear.  One cat with an outfit and roller skates and then a puppy that we later took to the store to be stuffed by Brooklyn. She loved the chocolate gold coins in her stocking and still talks about them. We caught Santa on video again this year!

Once the Rush family arrived we had the kids open their presents.  Each kid got a present and then they all opened one at the same time.  This way we were able to see what everyone got and it wasn't so crazy.  That ended up taking awhile so we took a break and ate breakfast before having the adults open their presents one at a time while the kids were able to play with their presents.  This way of doing things made the whole opening presents last a long time! Which was nice.
The things on their heads are two halves of an egg.  Brooklyn likes to watch surprise play-doh egg videos on YouTube and she had some presents hidden in this egg that had been covered in play-doh.

Brooklyn loved her little mermaid dress up costume and her new "makeup" kit (the best part is she thinks it is real makeup but it is completely fake so no mess). Her and Vona would go in a little play tent and do makeup and chat.  Just adorable.

Baby Nellie.  We got to meet her for the first time on this trip too!

We did our $10 gift exchange game later that evening.  The kids did their own version the day before when we had my mom's siblings and their kids over.  With the kids version we didn't do stealing just let them switch gifts with someone at the end if they wanted to.
Thomas and I got a nice warm run in together because it was 73 degrees! That night we all went on a walk around the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights.
